DJ Dan’s eagerly awaited return to the fold is finally upon us with this sublime collection of dancefloor anthems. FutureRetro goes from remixed retro rhythms, including ‘Can You Feel It’, ‘(Tribute to) Voodoo Ray’ and the absolutely ridiculously large ‘Company B – Fascinated’ through to a coalition of brand new compositions, each of which guaranteed to tear the roof off any house venue.

The Retro side of this excellent release pays nothing but love and respect to arguably some of the biggest records of our time, with DJ Dan keeping the original shine that had many early 90′s dancefloors bouncing and seamlessly building around it. Not one track loses any of its original appeal, with all samples being carefully crafted and manipulated around the American house pioneers 2010 electronic sound, by no means a small task for any producer, Dan makes it sound easy.

The Future half of the album is equally as slick, boasting seven of the freshest sounding electronic tracks you’ll hear this year. Moving from the infectious ‘Come On & Get It’, a filthy electro-house number with a divine breakdown, to the grimey breaks chaos of the aptly named ‘Chop Shop’, up to the Masters At Work-esque soulful summerloving ‘In Your Area’.

DJ Dan has produced one of the biggest albums of 2010 here, with no track unsuitable for the biggest of dancefloors or the smallest of friendly gatherings, with Fascinated due to set many session alight, if you like house music, new or old, you will love this.

Moguai – Oyster (Michael Woods Remix)

Fresh off the back of the hugely succesful Deadmau5 European tour, German house monster Moguai releases this moody yet grooving slab of euphoric electronic filth, remixed by the highly sought after Michael Woods.

The track retains much of it’s original appeal, with it’s ridiculously heavy 4/4 beats and beautifully intertwined synths slowly drifting in and out the track, steadily building in pitch and anticipation until an almighty breakdown that leaves you wanting. A finely crafted piece of Progressive House that could get any after-hours discotheque bouncing.

On the B-Side there you’re treated to the Lyve At Brixton mix, a slightly different fare, steadier and more rhythmic, with the same haunting hook slipping into the tune as it gradually builds into a much more mellow breakdown, based more around the uplifting synths than the haunting groove of the Michael Woods mix.

All-in-all, a strong dancefloor rhythm for the progressive hardcore backed with a melodious crowd pleaser guarenteed to fuel any summer session.

Hello! You may have noticed we’ve got a new website, thanks to Velvet Grooves. We like our new home and we think you’ll agree too. Anyway, we’ve not used a blog before but this blog is going to be used mainly by Alex Trim, our resident blogger, who will be giving you an alternative look into things besides the normal indie we broadcast. Think anything from house, electro and dubstep to metal. The blog might not even be music related – Trim might be recommending a venue or even telling you what he had for lunch. There will also be a monthly podcast eventually which you will be able to download for free from the site which will include unsigned bands and a bit of a Brummy twang for your ears, er, delight… kinda.

So yeah, sit back, have a read of the site, let us know if you want to be included and keep supporting!

Peace

Richard
