Probably already familiar to fellow fans of the band, ‘Went Away’ comes from one of the front-runners for album of 2012; ‘Given To The Wild’.
‘Went Away’ undertakes a similar approach to the majority of the album with a slow relaxing instrumental opening before travelling into a louder and higher tempo finish. We are greeted with a beginning with of innocent echoed tones from Orlando Weeks, rolling into exciting strong trio of vocal, drum and guitar-led finish.
As per usual, ‘Went Away’ is based upon intimate conversation or thoughts, delineated with lyrics such as “hold me close, don’t let me go I need you.” Let’s be honest though, would you expect a song without some degree of delicate emotion from The Maccabees??
Yet another strong tune from The Maccabees, this will be a track you will enjoy from the start.
