Counteract Magazine can exclusively reveal that Birmingham’s famous Dale End music venue is set to reopen this Autumn as the “Birmingham Ballroom”.
Set to open in September 2011, the Birmingham Ballroom will be a completely non-corporate, non-sponsored venue. They brand themselves as being “an independent Live Music and Club space open to all”.
The former Hummingbird and Carling Academy site will host live music and clubnights across three fantastic refurbished rooms: The Ballroom with a rough capacity of up to 3000, which will occupy the ex Academy 1 venue; The Other Room, with an approximate 400-600 capacity will occupy the ex Academy 2 room; and The End, with a 200 capacity, which will be situated on the site of the Bar Academy next door. All rooms have a 6am weekend licence.
